Our flight on Virgin Australia from Brisbane to Perth took 5 and half hours with a 2 hour time difference, we took off in the evening so we had time to doze and we passed our time by following a massive thunder storm out the window, the lightening was immense and the colours mesmerising. We chose to visit Perth for two reasons, we had never been before and also our friends from home, Shaun and Jodie are currently living there on their years Working Holiday Visa, they ever so kindly picked us up at the airport and we stayed at their house in Fremantle.
Shaun and Jodie had also kindly taken time off work so we spent our time exploring Perth's city centre, and marvelled at the city landscape atop of Kings Park, Perth doesn't have that many skyscrapers but mixed with the winding Swan river and the botanical gardens around us, it looked a picture perfect city, we hit up the white sands of Leighton Beach, it was scorching whilst we were visiting so a dip in the ocean was a must.

But the best thing about Freo and Perth?! The food!! We ate breakfast at 'The Shipping Lane' and Shannon will not stop raving about it, the food was scrumptious, but also healthy and generous sized portions (location: 1 Freeman Loop, North Fremantle WA 6159), a lively, bustling dinner at 'The Left Bank' (location: 15 Riverside Rd, East Fremantle WA 6158) and a very yummy meal at 'Gypsy Tapas', where we kept ordering more tapas and more sangria, whilst listening to live music. (location: 3/124 High St, Fremantle WA 6160). And also sampling some high percentages craft ales and beers at 'Monk Craft Brewery Kitchen' (location: 33 South Terrace, Fremantle WA 6160) And we visited the Fremantle Markets, even their fresh orange juice was better than normal!
We loved being able to tick Perth off our list, and it was such a great little place, it was also special to spend time with Shaun and Jodie and see how they live out here (thanks for having us guys!), but now it was time to jump on a Garuda flight to where we were meant to be... Bali!
