Auckland has so much good food going, but like anywhere, sometimes arriving in a new destination, it is a little overwhelming trying to decide where to eat. We have compiled a list of our favourite places...

The Occidental

Federal Delicatessen (Fed Street Deli/ The Fed)

When to go: open all day but try breakfast kitchen open till 1am Saturdays!

What to expect: American diner, stools overlooking the kitchen too

Mexico Restaurant

What to expect: New York pizzeria with massive pizzas! Very well priced

Sky Tower Orbit 360° Restaurant

Address: Cnr Victoria and Federal Streets Level 52, Sky Tower, Auckland Central, Auckland

What to eat/ drink: afternoon tea, dinner

When to go: For a special occasion

What to expect: Unbelievable, the view is ever changing as the restaurant revolves

Café Midnight Express

Address: 59 Victoria St W, Auckland, Auckland Central 1010, New Zealand

What to eat/ drink: Turkish food

When to go: Every night (if you could) Special occasion

What to expect: Wonderful, enchanting, cosy restaurant, with live music/ dancing and great food

Waiheke Wineries- various vineyards

Address: Waiheke Island

What to eat/ drink: drink lots of locally produced wine

When to go: Anytime

What to expect: A lovely rural island, on the Waitamata Harbour, which produces spectacular wines. Try Mudbrick amongst others

Wynyard Quarter- various 40 restaurants and bars

Address: Viaduct Harbour, Auckland Central, Auckland 1001, New Zealand

What to eat/ drink: Everything from Thai to Pizza, Burgers to Seafood. Multiple bars and restaurants

When to go: Any time of day and night

What to expect: ​Amazing area, lots to explore and a huge range of places to eat and drink with a range of prices.

Gourmet Burger and Brew

LA Cigale- French Market

When to go: For the weekend market

What to expect: Charming French- focused gourmet hub featuring café and bistro eats, a shop and multivendor weekend market

Burger Burger Ponsonby

When to go: Every night

What to expect: Very popular, bustling burger joint

Sails Restaurant

Address: 103-113 Westhaven Dr, Westhaven Marina, Auckland 1144, New Zealand

What to eat/ drink: at least 3 courses, and drink expensive wine

When to go: Special occasion

What to expect: It is posh but lovely food, well presented, with views of the harbour and bridge from the large windows (Pam is biased as she was a waitress here, although we never dined)

Giapo Artistic Ice Cream

What to expect: Ice cream like you have never seen or ate before

White Lady

When to go: After a night out (24 hrs sat and sun, 7pm-4am other nights)

What to expect: Food served from a bus

Twentyone

What to expect: Classy, gorgeous furnishings

Botswana Butchery

What to expect: Described as ‘fun dining’ it is plush but relaxed

Burger Fuel

Portofino

What to expect: Set on the Viaduct, it has a lovely setting

Elliot Stables

What to eat/ drink: With 13 restaurants to chose from under one roof, there’s plenty of choice

When to go: Every night

What to expect: Charming, bustling setting, order at counters.

Top 3 Places:

Sals- Great value pizza, and it is maahoosive!

Umi Sushi- Yes Shannon ate there for 3 months straight, amazing large rolls and cheap!

Cafe Midnight Express- Such lovely and tasty food, feels like you have been transported from New Zealand to Turkey


Oh and sorry for so many food pics ruined with our faces taking up the image! Ha...
