Perth | Little Creatures

CNN travel have listed Perth in their '18 best places to visit in 2018' and having visited just a few months ago (albeit it in 2017), we thought we would tell you about a fun and boozy few hours we spent at Little Creatures Fremantle Brewery.

Back when we lived in Oz years ago we liked a little sample of Little Creatures beers, their cute little cherubs looking playful on the bottles and the zesty flavours stand out from the rest. Then when a friend put up photos of his visit at Little Creatures Brewery showing The Great Hall which was vast and clustered with diners and beer guzzlers - it looked a picture of pure happiness. We knew we would have to visit too!

Located along Marine Parade in Freo you will first spot the brewing tanks, you're not going to want to bring your car, however if one of you isn't drinking then there is paid parking car parks all around the marina. Little Creatures does also have free bike hire which is great for exploring the area.

You can pop into the Great Hall at any time with no reservation and it's open from 10am (9am Sundays) til late and you can grab a handmade pizza and a Pale Ale and soak up the brewery atmosphere, there is also outside seating which is great for all the sunny weather but the best atmosphere is inside. In fact the building used to be a crocodile farm and the dock for Australia's America's Cup team!

If you don't know which beer is for you then head to the Brewhouse where you can take a public brewery tour, you don't need to book and just show up inside the Brewhouse for the tour which are at 12pm, 1pm, 2pm and 3pm Monday -Sunday. It's only $15 per person, which is great as you get to sample many different beers , ciders and ales, and in a bar you'd pay up to $10 for a pint!

The tour around the micro brewery lasts around an hour and half and you learn from an experienced 'hophead' how the lager is produced and walk through the brewery learning interesting info including the Little Creatures story. After the walk around you sit in the Brewhouse with jug after jug after jug filled with a range of lagers and ciders including special one off beers that can't be bought in pubs or bottle shops, we had 12 to sample from and being only 12pm when we started it went to our heads!

To calm ourselves from all the alcohol we soaked up the sun by wandering around the marina where there's many awesome restaurants - including Char Char, and then wandered into the Freo Markets.

We thought the price was great for the brewery tour and were happily astounded at the amount of lagers we had! Such a great day out!!

Check out Little Creatures online for more info.

In addition to public tours, there is a range of other tours for larger parties including hen and bucks parties.
