Headed back to Taupo today after having the morning in Rotorua free to look around the place. As weather was slightly better than last week (to start with), we went to Huka Falls. It's the most powerful falls we have ever seen- 200,000 litres of water plunge over the 9 meter rock face of the huka falls every second- that's enough to fill 5 Olympic swimming pools every minute!!
Afterwards we drove into Taupo and because the weather was better we got to see more of the gigantic lake and it's surrounding hills. Shannon played a game of 'hole in one' in which he stood on the side of the water and tried to hit his hole in one into a floating platoon 100 meters out into the lake. Unfortunately Shan didn't get the hole in one or the $10,000 cash prize that went with winning but he had fun playing. At night we caught up with a German couple from our bus and had drinks in the hostel bar and got our free BBQ. We then moved on to an Irish bar to do a quiz and met up with others from the bus, was a good night...and we won the quiz! Got a $100 bar tab so put it into jugs of fruity shots for us all!
